Rising accidents

Rising accidents

KARACHI:

There has been an alarming increase in road accidents across Rawalpindi. A lack of awareness about road safety rules and regulations has contributed to the chaos on our roads. Drivers do not follow traffic signals and drive recklessly risking their own and other drivers’ lives. Additionally, underage drivers are more likely to get into accidents as they lack the experience and maturity to handle a vehicle.

Most roads in the city are in a state of disrepair and have become a safety hazard. Potholes, uneven surfaces, and poorly maintained roads cause traffic jams and accidents, especially during the monsoon season. The municipal authorities should repair and maintain roads to make them safer for commuters. Traffic police should be deployed across the city and must be directed to act strictly against traffic violators. Underage drivers must be fined. We cannot wait any longer and must act urgently to make our roads safer.
