KARACHI:

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi is going to submit the nomination papers for JI Karachi chief Engr Naeemur Rehman for the elections of the city mayor office today, Saturday, June 10.

"It is pertinent to mention here that the JI has shown more than required numbers for the city mayor despite all fascist tactics employed by the Pakistan People Party government in Sindh," said a press release by JI.

Naeem on Friday condemned the PPP government over the recent arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi chapter head, Akram Cheema -- who was taken up from Shahrah e Faisal before he was made missing.

The PTI has announced unconditional support to the JI for the city mayor office elections against the ruling PPP.

Naeem was elected from North Nazimabad Union Council 8 on January 15. He has already shown the support of 193 voters in the city council, a number pretty higher than the required one.

The JI leader in his statement vowed to defend Karachi and Karachiites against feudalism and fascist designs by the PPP.
