Everything announced at the Summer Game Fest 2023

The Game Fest saw a number of game announcements and new releases of various games including Sonic, Mortal Kombat, etc

Summer Game Fest 2023 just wrapped off with an entire week of reveals and updates on brand-new and previously-announced games. The highlight of the event was the new releases of PlayStation 5 games, Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Here are some of the announcements made at the event:

Finally Fantasy VII Rebirth releasing early 2024

Attendees got their first real look at the second part in Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Cloud, Aerith, and the rest of the party ride the world outside of Midgar riding Chocobos, exploring towns, and discussing Sephiroth's inevitable return. Red XIII is expected to join the party as a playable fighter. The game will release on PlayStation 5 next year.

Spider-Man 2 releasing October 20, 2023

After Sony shared a blowout gameplay presentation for Spider-Man 2, the game fest this year has revealed the release date of the game on PlayStation 5. Box art depicted Peter and Miles in costume shooting webs, and learned that Venom won't be Eddie Brock.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown releasing next year

A new Prince of Persia game is releasing next year, which will come to PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on January 18, 2024. The Lost Crown is a brand-new sidescrolling action platformer with a vibrant art style.

Mortal Kombat 1 gets a new trailer

Mortal Kombat 1 will be out this year, along with the release of a new gameplay trailer that gives a glimpse into the long-running series, along with the characters calling out for help mid-battle and a couple of fatalities, including a close-up shot of someone's rib cage, and someone getting their heart ripped out of their chest.

Fortnite Wild reveals Transformer crossover

The attendees got their first look at Fortnite: Chapter 4, Season 3 called Fortnite Wilds. The trailer shows characters hopping through forests before running into Optimus Prime.

Sonic Superstar, a 2D classic sonic game is coming out this year

Sega revealed their new Sonic Superstars, a new sidescrolling Sonic game with a four-player co-op. Players can choose Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, and play with up to four players at the same time. The game is expected to release on all platforms this Fall.

Alan Wake 2 gets gameplay reveal

Alan Wake 2 is releasing on October 17 and gave a glimpse into its gameplay in this Game Fest. The game will have two playable characters, Alan Wake and Saga Anderson. Saga is an FBI agent in the Pacific Northwest and Alan Wake is trying to escape from the nightmare dimension.

Star Trek Infinite

A teaser trailer for Star Trek Infinite was released, a new grand strategy game coming from Paradox. The game is still in development at Quantum League maker Nimble Giant Entertainment and doesn't give many details in the trailer, besides a Federation fleet approaching the Borg, along with images of iconic Star Trek characters. A full trailer is expected to release on June 16.

Palworld, like Pokemon with guns

This game is about collecting monster friends and equipping them with guns. The trailer for the game launched this Game Fest but the official release of the game is in early January next year.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to the Moria is releasing this Fall

The game is releasing this Fall and is described as a survival crafting adventure in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth with a resemblance to Deep Rock Galactic.

New trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 4

A fresh new trailer for this upcoming game was launched in this gaming event, and release of the game was announced as June 14. The trailer shows themed after a castle, soccer stadium, and an abandoned zoo.

A number of other new games and their sequels were announced as well, as the gaming industry and players ready themselves for the new exciting releases.
